Sarah jessica parker hbo divorce

Sarah jessica parker hbo divorce, Ten years after she hung up her Manolo Blahniks (on cable, at least), Sarah Jessica Parker is headed back to HBO. Parker will star in a new comedy called Divorce. No word yet on whether she’ll be bringing her impressive shoe closet along for the ride.

According to Deadline, Divorce (like Sex and the City) will film in New York and tells the story of Frances (Parker), a woman who reassesses her life and marriage and decides to try to make a clean break. Thankfully, Chris Noth won’t be playing Parker’s husband, so you can go ahead and keep those Carrie/Big dreams alive. Instead, HBO has cast Thomas Haden Church (Wings, Sideways) as Parker’s ex-to-be. Molly Shannon will play Parker’s high-strung friend (we’re guessing Charlotte dialed up to 11), and Talia Balsam will play Parker’s more sedate chum. Hopefully there will, at least, be several brunch scenes to look forward to.

But all jokes of brunch, high heels, and Mr. Bigs aside, it will probably be wise to let go of your Sex and the City associations when approaching Divorce. HBO comedy has moved away from the effervescent brand of comedy that made Carrie Bradshaw and her friends so popular. There is still irreverence a plenty on HBO, but given the subject matter of Parker’s new venture, I expect it will be paired with the more sedate relationship comedies like Togetherness and Girls (perhaps slipping into Looking’s old spot?) rather than the zanier worlds of Silicon Valley and Veep.

But either way, this is good news for fans of Parker who miss having a weekly date with the actress. Perhaps, though, the more mature Divorce will pair better with a stiff scotch than a round of cosmos.
