Rand Paul son DUI

Rand Paul son DUI, The 22-year-old son of presidential hopeful Rand Paul was cited for DUI in Kentucky last weekend after he crashed into the back of a parked car.

Authorities said the collision happened just before noon on Sunday, when William Hilton Paul drove his maroon 2006 Honda Ridgeline into the unoccupied vehicle, USA Today reports.

He was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment for minor injuries to his face. A police report described him as being "belligerent" and having "a strong odor of alcohol," bloodshot eyes and slurred speech, according to the Lexington Herald-Leader. He failed a field sobriety test and refused to take a blood test.

A witness said that William had been "revving his engine" prior to the crash.

It's the third time William has clashed with the law over alcohol use. He was previously cited for possession of alcohol by a minor in October 2013 at the Keeneland horse racetrack.

In January of that same year, William was arrested at a Charlotte, North Carolina, airport, where he was charged with simple assault of a flight attendant, consuming beer or wine underage, disorderly conduct and being intoxicated and disruptive on a US Airways flight.

A spokesman for Rand Paul's presidential campaign said the Republican senator "does not comment on any private matters in regards to his family."

William is due to be arraigned on May 12.
