NASA’s Spacecraft Dawn has captured Ceres from close range

NASA’s Spacecraft Dawn has captured Ceres from close range, NASA Space Agency has released new images of Ceres planet yesterday. These new images include detailed views of a celestial object is identified as a dwarf planet or a giant asteroid. This image has brought new hope for the progress of human science. For all who do not know, the crescent is a famous icon since astronomy studied.

Crescent is same old as the age of astronomy itself. This symbol has long been known as the Nebra Sky Disc element, the 4000 years historical representation of the understanding of the space. But for scientists, crescent has a larger meaning than just as ancient symbols. To observe a crescent moon clearly, the distance between the observer and the sun must be greater than the distance between the observer and the observed crescent. It is indirectly saying that people need to be in the spacecraft to observe the crescent moon clearly.

Pictures released yesterday are the result of Dawn, a NASA’s spacecraft. Besides Ceres, Dawn also has a mission to another object, namely the asteroid Vesta. Dawn is the first spacecraft to reach the closest distance to Ceres and also the first in orbiting two different celestial objects. Dawn was able to do all that because of the tough machines that are powered by xenon ion reactions.  Unlike ordinary machines, Dawn’s ion-machine is capable of active in a very long time with high efficiency. Dawn has faced serious problems which sometimesexperienced engine shutdown abruptly. With all of its faults, Dawn managed to achieve fantastic results in taking pictures Ceres with detail.
