Bobbi Kristina Has Brain Damage

Bobbi Kristina Has Brain Damage, Cissy Houston spoke out late Monday about the condition of her granddaughter Bobbi Kristina Brown, saying she has “irreversible brain damage.”

The late Whitney Houston's mother said in a statement to People magazine, "I have just returned from visiting my granddaughter Bobbi Kristina in the hospital and while she is no longer in a medically induced coma she has a tracheotomy and according to the doctors she has global and irreversible brain damage and remains unresponsive.

"Bobbi Kristina has been in the hospital and a rehab facility since being discovered unresponsive in her Georgia home by her partner Nick Gordon Jan. 31. She was moved from Emory University Hospital in Atlanta to a rehabilitation facility last month.

Houston's comments come after Brown's father, 46, told a concert audience in Dallas this weekend that his daughter was actually "awake" and "watching me."

The 81-year-old Houston matriarch added, "Meeting with the doctors and understanding that she can live in this condition for a lifetime truly saddens me. We can only trust in God for a miracle at this time. Keep us in your prayers."

Following Bobby Brown's weekend comments, his wife, Alicia Etheredge-Brown, clarified and said her husband was in "an emotional state" when he spoke out to a concert crowd. She added that Brown's 22-year-old daughter "has made it out of ICU, opened her eyes, and started a rehabilitation that will be long and hard."

Etheredge-Brown, who is expecting her second child with Bobby Brown, said her husband has been "encouraged by the steps that Bobbi Kristina has made" and is praying for her recovery.

Still, a source close to the family told ABC News Monday that Brown's condition remains "unchanged," which aligns with Cissy's statement.

The source said that while Brown is no longer on a ventilator, she still has a tracheotomy tube that helps her breathe. "Nothing has changed since she got that months ago," the source added.
