'Breastaurant' trademark: Bikini chain coins term, "Breastaurant" is now a trademark. On April 9, Fox News reported that Texas-based restaurant chain "Bikinis Sports Bar & Grill" has officially coined the term "breastaurant." The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has approved the request and now the restaurant has major bragging rights.
"We’re really excited about receiving this federal trademark. Our team has worked hard over the last seven years to offer a unique experience to our fans. It just further solidifies that Bikinis Sports Bar & Grill is America’s ONLY breastaurant®," said founder and CEO Doug Guller.
The "breastaurant" trademark was put into place because "Bikinis" features waitresses wearing bikini tops and short skirts. Since this sort of is the company's trademark, it makes sense that they went all the way with it. While some people might think it's dumb, others think that it is pretty cool.
While some might feel that a "Hooters" restaurant would be a better choice for the trademark, Doug Guller has a vision for his chain. He also plans to expand his 14 restaurants to 50 -- and now that he's got the trademark (and national attention), he will likely have a lot of success.
